Andrew Stanton’s storytelling TED Talk featured in Oscars ad

During the Oscars, I got teary at three things: Lupita Nyong’o’s acceptance speech, the “In memoriam” montage and Google’s filmmaking-themed ad that ran toward the end of the night. This ad, titled “We’re all Storytellers,” showed young filmmakers experimenting with their craft and , on a night all about the power of film, it hit exactly the right emotional chord.

So I was excited to discover that the voiceover in the ad came from Andrew Stanton’s TED Talk, “The clues to a great story.” Below, watch the Toy Story and Wall-E filmmaker’s lyrical talk in its entirety. And while you’re at it see Stanton’s talk visualized, starring the Ugly Duckling.
